    What Is Hard Water?

Hard water is an undesirable condition of water when it consists of harmful minerals like calcium or magnesium.

    Hard Water Vs Soft Water

Wedgeworth Plumbing recognizes the importance of eliminating the hardness of your water. Some reasons we recommend softening your water are:

    • Hard water generally has very high amounts of minerals like iron, calcium and magnesium. These minerals in the water are then deposited into the household appliances like kettles and disturb their functionality.
    • These mineral deposits also become stubborn deposits in pipelines and water heaters, causing them to be clogged. Once the pipelines become clogged, naturally, other issues like burst pipes or broken and/or damaged pipelines may cause you major problems in the future. Sometimes, even plumbing emergencies arise due to clogged pipelines. Contact Wedgeworth Plumbing today to prevent major plumbing problems before they happen.
    • The minerals that cause hardness in water can also make it harder for soaps to lather with the water., such as washing, laundry, bathing, etc. The cleaning efficiency of detergents is reduced by minerals present in hard water. To help prevent this problem, request Wedgeworth Plumbing to come to your home.
    • Soft water uses less soap and cleaning products, reduces soap scum, reduces spots on dishes & glasses, removes the scale that clogs plumbing and water heaters, increases the life of your appliances (like dishwashers and water heaters), softens skin, opens pores and cleans hair better, and improves the taste of boiled foods and vegetables. To take advantage of these benefits, request a bid today from Wedgeworth Plumbing.

Quite an unusual experience from a consumer home services provider. The gents who came out to my house were prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous. Definitely good things, but these things should be table stakes for service providers. (I recognize that it is not, unfortunately.) Three things made these guys stand out.1) They took the time to listen and explain their rationale for their *recommendations* and *options* without pressure. Many plumbers take advantage of the fact that the consumer is usually stressed and emotionally compromised if things have gotten bad enough that they have to call for professional help. Even though my situation was not a plumbing emergency, I still felt that these guys were being deliberate about avoiding pressure. They're attitude was more like "let's find the best solutions for *you*" than "how can I maximize this month's sales bonus."2) They were more problem-solvers than repairmen. Rather than just propose "it'll be best if we just replace everything" (which is usually more profitable for them, especially when selling you items with egregious markups), these guys were willing to try different things to get to a satisfying outcome with the least amount of cost and risk. That takes a bit more thinking and creativity than manual labor. But the approach can save the customer money, and may even open them to spending more on other things because they've discovered new opportunities to add value. It may also mean that the customer spends less, but these guys seemed to be more concerned about maximizing value than maximizing sales.3) Flat-rate pricing. I don't imagine that they use flat-rate pricing for all situations, but they seem to use flat-rate pricing for many more common plumbing issues. This is great because you get a price (not an estimate) up front.I wish more folks ran their businesses like these guys. The high rating is well-deserved.read more

Nothing’s more frustrating than not being able to use your washing machine and sink because of a clog in your old home’s plumbing. I called Wedgeworth Plumbing around 3 pm on a Thursday, and they scheduled a plumber, TJ, for the next morning. His first try with the snake helped clear the sink, but the washing machine was still overflowing. Instead of giving up, TJ stayed an extra two hours to get everything working. I even found out you can snake the line from the roof—who knew? TJ was great about explaining what updates we should consider without pushing anything. I’ll think about those for the future, but for now, I’m just happy to have a working sink and washer again!read more
